После знакомства с обувью Thorogood и Panama Jack мне казалось, что лучше уже некуда. Оказалось, что есть!
Не имею в виду килобаксовую обувь по индивидуальному заказу, а веду речь о вполне доступной обуви, у которой большая часть цены не складывается из рекламного бюджета производителя и понтов обладателя (это намёк на Red Wing shoes и прочие подобные неоправданно дорогие бренды).
В общем, в одном джинсо-сообществе какой-то участник продемонстрировал фото:


И мне захотелось такие же боты!
Быстро погуглив, выяснил, что это ботинки Fluevog Fortitude Sasha.
И так уж совпало, что в магазине производителя распродажа и цена за пару 99$ вместо номинальных 299$!
Пошерстив магазин, понял - обувь что надо! Такого у нас точно не купить, да ещё за 99 у.е. Почитал отзывы в самом магазине, по интернету и выяснил, что марка эта всемирно известна и высоко ценится за непревзойдённое качество, исключительный стиль, прекрасное отношение к покупателям, заботу о них и чувство юмора Регулярно проводятся распродажи со скидками 50-70%, конкурсы, в которых можно выиграть, к примеру, по одной паре в год в течение 10 лет, лотереи, где можно просто так выиграть обувку. Напомню - шикарную обувку!

Да, Мастейн из Megadeth тоже носит Fluevog.

Основатель компании - экстравагантный дизайнер из Канады John Fluevog.


Личность ярка и творческая, при желании найдёте много материалов о нём в поисковике.
Посмотрев на модели его обуви, поймёте, что это уже произведения прикладного искусства.

Напрямую в Россию отправляют USPS, по территории РФ посылка доставляется ЕМС. Трекинг есть, само собой. Отправка будет с одного из магазинов Канады или США, в котором есть заказанная вами обувь. Вначале мне хотели отправить из Лос-Анжелеса, а когда я попросил поменять размер, место отправки сменили на Денвер (о размерах напишу далее).
Стоимость доставки одной коробки 85$, что мне показалось дороговато.
Стало интересно, какая будет цена доставки двух пар обуви. Помимо модели чукка, есть аналогичные туфли Fortitude Drew за те же 99$, их я и добавил в корзину. К моему приятному удивлению стоимость доставки не увеличилась! Ну, вы уже поняли, что я подумал. "Надо брать!".
Оплата через PayPal, что тоже очень радует.

Посылку получил на 14-й день после заказа, за что отдельное спасибо работникам почты и ЕМС! Курьер позвонил в субботу утром и мы договорились о времени вручения.

Как видите, есть большая газета магазина - "анатомия обуви" и каталог нового сезона. На разрезе помимо привычных деталей указаны "Пыль ангелов" и "Улучшитель харизмы". Не буду резать свои туфли, чтобы проверить, но они такие крутые, что охотно верю.
Чтобы не отвечать на вопросы знакомых, что это за марка обуви, так как с первого раза всё равно никто не поймёт, как это пишется, есть готовые визитки магазина - проще всем раздать, чем каждый раз объяснять
Два мешка для обуви из плотной мягкой ткани. Мешками особо не пользуюсь, так что сойдут как тряпочки для полировки обуви.

На дне коробки написано "Хватит пялиться на мой низ". Тут игра слов - "bottom" (низ) в английском означает и "зад", "попа". Я ж говорил, что они там юмористы. При отправке саппорт написал, что вот-вот мой заказ соберут специально обученные эльфы и совсем скоро я смогу наслаждаться крутейшими туфлями.

Теперь самые главные вопросы.
ЦЕНА: 99$ за пару + 85$ за доставку = 283$, то есть каждая пара обошлась в 141,5$. Отнюдь не дёшево, но дешевле многих других популярных марок обуви вроде New Balance, Thorogood, Panama Jack (тьфу на RW ещё раз). При том, что номинальная цена 299$ и 269$.

Вначале решил, что мне подойдёт размер US9, но потом решил взять 9,5 и не прогадал. На самом деле, ещё лучше было бы взять размер US10, так как по длине подошли отлично, но сами по себе туфли узкие. Поэтому смело ориентируйтесь на таблицу, но если у вас нога широкая, берите на один размер больше и будет отлично.

Что интересно, на форуме ничего не нашёл по теме Fluevog. Видимо, не только для меня эта марка станет приятным открытием. Надеюсь, обзор будет вам полезным.

К сожалению, уже нельзя дополнить основной пост, но отмечу, что конкретно эта обувь делается во Вьетнаме. Написал, что фабрика в Португалии, это так, но некоторые серии они делают в других странах - Вьетнаме, Мексике и даже Перу.

Цвет нормальный, не слишком светлые. К тому же, они потемнеют со временем. Станут как на первом фото.
По ощущениям жётские Но это было отмечено в комментариях в магазине, так что не сюрприз. Но и разноситься должны быстро, потом не будет ощущения жёсткости.

Конечно, кожаная подошва - это целое дело. Обувь явно не для сырой погоды, но против промокания сгодится пропитка и набойка.

Сделал запрос в магазин по поводу ухода за обувью, прислали методичку Думаю, многим пригодиться.
В принципе, всё это общеизвестно, но для меня было полезным узнать, что рекомендуются средства по уходу за кожей Lexol (есть на Амазоне).
И они снова подтвердили, что "блеск" для обуви с губками только портит обувь, не используйте эту гадость! Он даёт быстрый эффект, им удобно пользоваться, но кожа сохнет и трескается гораздо быстрее. Если обувь дешёвая на один-два сезона, то и фиг с ней, не жалко А если добротная, то используйте нормальные кремы, чтобы обувь прослужила вам многие годы.

How to Love and Care
For your Fluevogs

Tip #1 Maintenance
We highly recommend cleaning your shoes on a regular basis, depending on frequency of use.
The cleaning method depends on the shoe's material. Leather can be polished and conditioned with a leather lotion applied with a soft cloth (see steps below). Suede looks best when brushed. Special suede brushes are available, but a clean toothbrush works just as well. Fabric shoes
should be sprayed with a stain guard.

Polishing Leather in a Nutshell
1. Clean the shoes with leather cleaner like Lexol to get the grime off the top. Never use any type of cleaner that contains an acid or a detergent as both are damaging to fine leather and will age the shoe. When necessary, use saddle soap and water for a better cleaning. Be sure to rinse away all of the saddle soap. Residual saddle soap will damage leather, just as dried soap left on your skin will damage and cause excessive drying. Never use a detergent—it destroys the natural oils. Always use a proper leather saddle soap for cleaning.

2. Condition the leather to soften. While the leather is still slightly moist after a good cleaning, apply a leather conditioner to replace the leather's natural oils. We recommend Lexol conditioner or any good quality conditioner containing lanolin. Set your clean and treated boots aside for 24 hours to dry. It's always a good idea to use shoe trees so that your boots maintain their shape. Later, apply boot polish or wax, and buff to a shine.

3. Use paste, wax, or cream polish to shine your shoes. Make sure the polish matches the shoes. Use a cream a shade lighter than the shoe to cover scratches. Neutral is the "color" for light colored shoes. Cream or Paste polish moisturizes fine leather, keeps it flexible, and soaks into the leather to allow leather to breathe. Wax polish shines leather better than cream, but it seals the leather and causes it to dry out. Avoid liquid polish--although it puts a fast shine on your shoes, it can dry out and crack the leather over time.You can apply the polish with a soft, clean polishing rag (old socks will work fine). You
can also use a horsehair brush dauber instead of a cloth. If you use a dauber, use a different one for each color of polish you use.

4. Allow the shoes to dry (about 10 minutes) then buff the shoe with a polishing brush--preferably horsehair – and use a soft clean cloth to bring out a high luster.

5. Weatherproof your shoes. A protective spray is an excellent way to protect your shoes from water, snow, mud, and spills. The best way to protect your shoes is to wipe the leather with a damp cloth, following the instructions on the protector spray. Spray your shoes before wearing and on a regular basis thereafter. Mink oil will waterproof and preserve leather, but it can darken lighter shades of leathers. A water and stain protective spray for leather, provides water protection, and doesn’t alter the color.
Nubuck is brushed leather similar to suede, but with a finer nap. Treat these shoes with a water repellent, use rubber-bristle brush (not nylon) or a suede bar. Use the bar damp to clean and condition, and use the brush afterwards to lift the nap.
Suede can be cleaned with a clean soft brush (or a toothbrush), or special erasers (suede bars) to remove stains and dirt. Raise the nap on suede by applying steam from a steam iron from about 10 inches away. Also special brass-bristle brushes are available to raise the nap after cleaning. A protective non-silicone finish (like Scotchgard or Meltonian Water and Stain Protector) sprayed on new suede shoes will help repel water and stains.

Tip #2 Protective Soles
Adding a rubber sole protector prolongs the life of your shoes. Stylishly thin, this rubber top sole protects the outer sole from wear and tear. Water resistant and skid proof, protective soles will greatly increase the life of leather and delicate soled shoes.

Tip #3 Rotate Your Shoes
Shoes need a day off. If you want your fine leather shoes to last longer, never wear them for two consecutive days. Did you know during a normal day your feet produce over a 1/8 cup of moisture and up to a 1/2 cup when active?

Tip #4 Use a Shoe Horn
Always use a shoe horn when putting on your shoes. This saves the heel collar and counter from unnecessary wear.

Tip #5 Use Cedar Shoe Trees
Cedar shoes trees can extend the life of your leather shoes up to three times their expected life span. They draw moisture out of your shoes, re-awaken the shoe's natural structural memory, and prevent the leather from wrinkling and cracking.
Aromatic Cedar shoe trees have three basic functions:
1. The original shape of the shoe is maintained
Using shoe trees daily prevents shoe upper leather from curling and cracking. Leather shape is maintained by the tension of the shoe tree. Shoe trees are designed to fit properly and easily to nearly all shoe styles. The spring action and split toe design allows the tree to fill the natural shape of your shoe.
2. The unfinished cedar absorbs moisture
Feet typically perspire an eighth of a cup of moisture everyday. Left unchecked, this moisture is absorbed into the linings of shoes permanently, thus decreasing the life of shoes. By placing shoe trees into shoes every night, moisture is absorbed into the shoe tree from the shoe.
3. The aroma of cedar deodorizes shoes naturally
Shoe odors are naturally negated with the powerful scent of aromatic cedar.

Tip #6 Avoid Heat
Always keep shoes away from direct heat to prevent the leather from drying out. Leather should always dry naturally. It's important to avoid drying them near a fire or heater. This overheating will literally cook the leather and cause it to become stiff and brittle. The best technique is to ensure that dry, room temperature air can circulate inside the boots.
Note: What should you do if your shoes or boots get wet? The first thing to consider is that shoes should be waxed or oiled so that they tend to repel water. The less water absorbed by leather, the longer it will last and the more comfortable you'll be. Wet leather will stretch and weaken, becoming brittle as it dries. Once your shoes are wet, they should be dried as soon as possible with room temperature, dry air. If you let the boots sit in a wet condition for days without drying out, they can become moldy. This isn't good for the boot, and mold or mildew is nearly impossible to get rid of.

Tip #7 Shoe Bags
When traveling, use shoe bags. This will prevent soiled shoes from getting in touch with your clothing. If you turn a shoe bag inside out, you can use it as a buff cloth.

Tip #8 Shoe Care for Special Shoes and Situations
Spewing is a natural milky residue of wax that will often form on new shoes. This is a normal residue from the tanning of the leather. Wipe it off with a soft cloth or brushing. To remove the wax in difficult areas, such as between stitches, use a toothbrush.
Exotic and embossed reptile skins can be treated like calfskin, or with special conditioners to keep the leather from cracking. Take extra care when brushing to prevent scratching the surface.
Fabric shoes can be cleaned with a mild spray fabric cleaner. Let the cleaner dry to a powder and brush off the residue with a stiff brush. You can also use Woolite.
Patent leather can be cleaned with a damp cloth using lukewarm water and plain soap or patent cleaner. Shine with a smooth soft cloth. Don’t get any of the fabric wet (like the ribbon bow).
Salt on shoes – Damaging white salt marks should be rinsed off immediately with a 50/50 mixture of white distilled vinegar and water. Wipe dry, and follow the directions for wet shoes.

Vegetable tanned leather involves "chrome"-free tanning and the polishing requirements are different from chrome-dyed leathers.
Use a damp soft cloth for cleaning these shoes.
The most common mistake in shining vegetable tanned shoes is using too much polish. The excess polish creates a layer of build-up, which has three negative effects:
1) it covers the natural beauty of the leather
2) it creates a grainy texture in the creases of the shoes
3) and the build-up of polish scuffs easily and attracts dust.
To avoid these effects, use only the thinnest film of polish when polishing your vegetable tanned shoes. Just a very small amount, spread very thin over the shoe, is all that is needed to restore the color and luster.

Leather-Soled Shoes and Their Care
Q. Am I missing something? I’ve finally gotten into higher-end footwear, and I think leather soles really don’t make any sense. Within a few months, my shoes need to be resoled. Why do they even make shoes with leather soles? How do you take care of the leather bottoms?

A lot of our customers ask: Should I take my new leather-soled shoes to the cobbler to have rubber soles put on? Should leather soles always be protected by rubber, or can I slip and slide on leathers till I wear them out?

Wearing a well-maintained, elegant pair of Fluevog shoes is one of the most powerful style statements that any person can make. But with the price tag on our shoes ranging anywhere from $200 to well over $400 that statement is not inexpensive to make. Here are some things you should do if you want to make your sole investment last longer.

Taking care of leather soles is not difficult but you should be diligent in doing what is necessary to make your leather-soled shoes last. The steps to ensure your leather soles last include: treating them with a water-repellent product, and regular cleaning with a leather cleaning product. Leather soles aren't well suited for wet weather initially. If you plan to wear yours in those types of conditions (especially snow) the easiest solution is to slap a rubber half sole or “topy” on top. Equally important is to know how to "dry" water-soaked leather soles correctly. This will ensure they don't crack or shrink. Never dry your wet leather soles near or on direct heat or fire. Let your soles dry naturally, so the leather layers don’t separate. If you get salt on them, wash it off.

Moisture is the biggest enemy of leather soles. When the soles are new, you should avoid wearing the shoes on rainy days, at least until the soles are well scuffed and accumulate some street grime. (Also, once your leather soles are broken in, you won’t be carpet surfing!). It is important to have a few pairs of rubber soled shoes for wet weather; that way you can rotate shoes in your wardrobe and not wear one pair out. This is one of the many reasons you need at least a few badass pairs of Fluevogs in your life (after all who doesn’t need more Fluevogs??). Rotate them like you would your clothes and your new shoes should give you excellent service for years to come.

The longevity of leather soles is different for every person. The wear you experience on the leather sole will be determined by how hard you wear the shoes and frequency of use. If you have several pairs of shoes, and you wear each pair once a week, they can last a very long time. If you wear the same pair almost every day--particularly following a day when the shoes, and specifically the soles, got very wet--the rate of wear will increase exponentially. Softened wet leather deteriorates much faster.

If you don't care much for the appearance of the rubber topy covering the sole then it’s a good idea to possess both leather-soled shoes and rubber-soled shoes. Yes leather soles are slimmer and more elegant, appropriate for dressier occasions. But rubber soled shoes are better for urban schlepping and wearing in foul weather. Some people don't like the idea of a topy sole. They feel that leather soled shoes are made to be worn as manufactured. We "wear out" our jeans; why not our boots? Yes, you can continue to wear your leather soles until the leather gets thinner and then have them resoled, either with leather again, or with a vibram rubber/composite sole.

If you are especially hard on your shoes, it’s also not a bad idea to get a "heel tap". These come in either metal or rubber/plastic and are usually nailed in by a cobbler. They're inexpensive ($5-20) and will extend the life of the heel considerably since the heel will generally wear down more than any other part of the shoe.

Maintaining leather shoes is a process and ongoing commitment. Following this advice will make your shoes last for as long as possible:
Think of Water as the Enemy!
One of the primary commandments of maintaining any article made of leather is to protect it from water. Remember that leather comes from a organic source, so moisture tends to wreak havoc on the material and undoes the treatments that were painstakingly applied to it. Water repellent spray, usually available in cans or bottles for under $10, should be applied as soon as you get your shoes, and before you first use them.

Before applying the repellent, wipe the entire shoe down with a warm cloth (you can leave a rag over the heater to warm it). Aside from removing any dust and debris that might get trapped in the leather finish, the heat dialates the pores on the surface of the leather. This improves the absorption of the chemical into the material, making for more thorough and long-lasting protection. Reapply repellent as necessary or as instructed. Get in the habit of reapplying a moisture/water repellent every time you clean your leather-soled shoes.

Polish Makes Perfect
Shoe polish does more than just clean your shoes. Aside from helping maintain the appearance of the leather, the chemicals in polish also act as a treatment for the shoe. They help moisturize the leather, extending its lifespan considerably in the long run. You should use a professional-grade, cream or wax-based polish instead of that liquid stuff in easy-to-apply bottles, as the former has much better moisturizing properties.

Good Shoes Do Not Grow on Trees
With all the disposable leather shoes nowadays, not everyone appreciates the value of shoetrees. You have to remember that leather is not a fixed material; it has a tendency to shrink or expand, conforming to the shape of your foot and pressure. Shoetrees fill out the main body of a shoe, making it conform to the default shape and smoothing out any crinkles and creases.

Cedar is the prime wood used for shoetrees because it has the unusual ability to absorb smells and odors from within the shoe. It can also absorb some amount of moisture, minimizing the H2O that makes contact with the leather. Although professional shoe shops sell cedar shoetrees for upwards of $20+, the benefits are well worth the expense. If they stop smelling “fresh” roughen them up with a little sandpaper or steel wool. It will reactivate the wood oils. Newspapers are quick fix alternative if your shoes get soaked as they also work to absorb water.
